New Phone Number

My cell phone is now working! I'll have this number (66-0876-376-569) until I leave Thailand which I'm guessing will be around the 20th of February. Calls on Skype are next to nothing and you know I'd love to hear from you!

Your photos are fabulous as always - I think maybe photo journalism could be a career ;-)as well as author. I really enjoy reading all you write.
Glad you made it through the festival days so now you can sleep.

Love M

Thank you all for the phone number suggestions.

Direct dial just wouldn't work from here but operator assist went thru just fine.
They also said the first zero in 0876 might not be necessary.
011 to get out of the usa is also not necessary.

Just glad to get thru.

You've got me seriously motivated to get the greenhouse starts going and I'm loving the outdoor kitchen/garden combo.

We lost our connection but I was trying to tell you about the 'sling pumps'.

It's a variation of the Archemedes screw for lifting water. It's a cone that sorta half floats in a stream and as it slowly rotates, a coil of tubing inside alternately picks up water and then air then water then air ..and will actually push water 80 feet vertical and 4-500 feet linearly.

NO power needed.
The closest thing to perpetual motion machine that I've ever seen.
Super simple and free EZ irrigation water from the river.

There are so many simple things that we could all be doing without using grid power.

Looking foreward to a red handled granny pump for the well and playing with a waterwheel in the creek for more free power.

I bet you'll come back with some great ideas too.
There is a big push for increasing the efficiency of cook stoves in developing countries too.
Solar ovens and something called wood gassifier stoves that use a tenth of the wood needed to cook/boil.

Surely you'll see lots of that stuff.

welp? Time to go look for a new map..Nepal?
